El Nadaha: Search for the soul debuts at NMEC

We are so proud of our second collaboration with the Spanish Embassy and director Dani Pannullo.

This time around the performers are all Taqseem institute alumni. The performance itself is a contemporary Egyptian dance performance with elements of whirling, as well as baladi, and contemporary influences.

Based on an imaginary character in Egyptian folklore the “nadaha” is a spirit that comes out of the water in the village to haunt certain people and forces them to follow her or “their” calling. Honoring those who follow an unknown path in search of enlightenment, all elements of physical and emotional expression are to be explored.
